Great place to camp. There is so much to do here and a wonderful family place.
Great hiking, biking and camping. The ticks can be pretty wicked on some of the trails in season. But in the spring and fall a good place to be. Oh yeah .. and for those who enjoy the cold they have cross country skiing and snowshoeing trails as well.
I only camped a weekend and hiked one trail; the park is very, very large so take my review with a grain of salt. I stayed at Castle Mound Campground. I have a small camper and reserved an electric site. In that portion of the campground, most sites were pull-throughs and very shallow sites. Lucky my camper and truck are small; the way I wanted to park my camper, I was just about pulled up against the firepit! I could have parked differently but the electric box is in an odd spot. New Shower house was nice; campfire wood was all soaked. The shelter they had in our section of the campground was just about falling down; it didn't provide much shelter for the wood at all. The water that came out of the hand pump wells was full of iron; I ended up filling my dishwater from the shower house as it was cleaner.
Beautiful. Huge. Definitely worth the trip.
Upgraded to an electric site in July but it did not work. Paid an extra $20. Months later and at least 10 phone calls, I still have not received my refund. Was told the electricity would be fixed during our stay but it was not. There was no proof any effort was made towards fixing it. Even more disappointing that I paid for a service I never received and keep getting lied to about getting my $20 back. I will never camp here again. My business also donates items to 'friends of ' various state parks as fundraisers so this is even more disappointing that they don't keep their sponsors happy. There is no integrity for this state park. They charge you for services they never provide.
There's some facilities and camp grounds. Trails too. Don't follow the directions Google maps has, they send you to the wrong place. Look it up on line and find a park map.
